MBBS seats increased in 2023
Government has taken proactive steps to increase MBBS seats. In 2023, India will have 50 new medical colleges. Out of 50 new medical colleges, 30 are government colleges and 20 are private colleges. Not only this, but the government has also increased nearly 2000 seats in the existing colleges.
The Ministry has declared that 50 new medical colleges will add 6200 MBBS seats in the country. Also, as seats are being added up in the existing colleges, taken together, the actual increase in the MBBS seats will be 8,195.
With the addition of 50 new medical colleges, now we will have 702 medical colleges in India.
Due to the addition of 8,195 seats, total MBBS seats in India have crossed 1 lakh mark and now we have 1,07, 658 MBBS seats.
